- Colorado 'Hayman' Fire and some passages from the book of Esther -

In the study group the author belongs to, there have been puzzled questions in the last two days as to why the members either were not lead to pray regarding the fires burning in Colorado or wished to discuss the matter but were somehow blocked in one way or another.

So perhaps the asking of these questions finally, will lead us to some answers. The author had a little thingy rambling around in the back of the brain and due to the questions being asked, finally blocked out some time to develop the elusive thought.

This may be stretching a connection very thin but here goes:
Before we go into the original on this, it was reported today, June 17th, 2002 that the Hayman fire was started by a National Forrestry worker who's job it is to protect and patrol our forrests.

The circumstances are being reported that this female park worker started the fire that got out of control with letters she wished to burn from her former spouse. How sad for her, how tradgic for those of the state of Colorado. It was the editor's immediate reaction that this person's pain must have been great that she would wish to burn those letters and then doubly great when she could not control the fire. Please remember her and her family in your prayers.
Now to what struck me about a particular fire; Hayman.

First a little scripture:
  • Est 3:1 After these things King Ahasuerus promoted Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and raised him, and set his seat above all the rulers with him.
  • Est 3:2 And all the king's servants who were in the king's gate were bowing and worshiping Haman, for the king had so commanded for him. But Mordecai did not bow nor worship.
  • Est 3:3 And the king's servants who were at the gate of the king said to Mordecai, Why do you disobey the king's command?
  • Est 3:4 And it happened, when they spoke daily to him, and he did not listen to them, they told Haman, to see if Mordecai's matters would stand. For he had told them that he was a Jew.
  • Est 3:5 And when Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow nor worship him, then Haman was filled with fury.
  • Est 3:6 And it was light in his eyes to reach forth a hand against Mordecai alone; for they had revealed to him Mordecai's people. And Haman sought to destroy all the Jews in all the kingdom of Ahasuerus, the people of Mordecai.
  • Est 3:7 In the first month, it is the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of King Ahasuerus, they made fall Pur, that is, the lot, before Haman day by day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, the month Adar.
Now, after what things? Mordechai, Queen Hadassah's guardian discovered a plot to harm the King, Queen Hadassah warned the King and the plot was foiled. Queen Hadassah is golden in the King's eyes and this sets the stage for her to stand in the gap for her people, the exiled Israelites in Babylon.

So fine, what's that got to do with the fires in Colorado. Well the antagonist in the second half of the tale's name is Haman (Hayman-y=Haman, with a short ah.) His misson; Destroy those who will not 'bend the knee' to him, another human being and not even the King!

If we look at the Defs, we see Haman is the Strong's 2001. The servants by definition, were in bondage and could not help themselves. Haman was so enraged and the refusal of Mordechai's people to be 'submissive' to the 'bowing, or worshiping' that he prostrated himself in prayer and worship to devise a plan to do away with them. They held the Pur, the 'lot casting', day in and day out until the Adar month.

If the numbers crunchers out there have any insight to the Strong's or Hebrew, that'd be great.

So it is my !opinion! or rather it has not even matured to a full fledged opinion yet, let me restate. It is my impression that the name of that particular fire, the Hayman fire *may* be signaling scripture searchers to a clue about the fires. The fires are not all 'natural burnoff' due to drought. There are reports that at least one is suspected arson and another is the result of a careless campfire.

We note that none of the Israelites, Mordechai or Hadassah were motivated by the L*rd to seek mercy on behalf of Haman or his coconspirators and neither was the *King*. In fact Purim, a minor feast day in the Jewish calendar, is a party day for children. It is used to teach the children to always be ready to stand up for Israel and each other against their common enemies. And sorry old Haman is one of the most villified and hated characters ever to make an appearance on the stage of Israel's history.

So there it is, the thing that bothered me. No one who wrote me even hinted at this, so now I leave it up to you to ponder and pray about.

Update: Yet another study-buddy posted the earthquake data for us the day after this was published:
This is very interesting. But what I also found interesting is that leading up to this fire, and during this fire, Colorado has had a series of earthquakes that nobody seemed to mention. There we at least 3 "other" Colorado quakes that I cannot find or that have been removed from the quake list at the USGS. Also notice the 2 quakes below from Oklahoma and Newyork... It may be just a coinsidence, but I wonder why they pretty much are all the same size quakes, 3.3. Anyways, just some food for thought...
